Duke University

Duke University hands out free Apple ipods to incoming freshmen. The college says that mp3 players will give the students a chance to download lesctures and books. The popular mp3 player can be used as educational purposes as well as entertainment. The school made a website that similar to the apple's itunes music site. The apple site allows students to download recorded lectures, audio books, and other content.
The ipods not only downloads lectures and class assignments, but also downloads freshman orientation material and the academic calender. School officals says that this is an experiment to see if they can motivate faculty and students to think creativly about using digital audio content. The officals hope this will advance educational goals in the same way that ipods and simialar devices have had such a big impact on music distribution.
When I become a teacher in the future I could use the ipods in the physical education field by providing my athletes an ipod to be able to view sport schedules, study plays, and view other schools records. The athletes really would like this because they could view all the other stuff and listen to music. I think the apple ipods are a good idea to use them in the education fields.
